Why I admire Hugo Chávez

I have taken a bit of interst in what Chavez has had to say lately and he seems to make a lot of sense. And he’s not afraid to say exactly what he thinks. I can see why that would make him unpopular in some circles, but I think we need more leaders like him in this world.

there’s a great documentary about the attempted coup in 2002 that’s definitely worth watching. unfortunately, it’s not being distributed anywhere. so, although i don’t advocate using shady internet means to obtain movies, in this case… it’s actually the only way to see it.

Thanks for the tip.

Isn’t it amazing how often these days that it is the truth that one has to dig deep to find? (Rhetorical)

Anyway, you must have been reading my mind, because I was aware that I had not seen the real story on the coop and had intended to talk to my landlady about it.

She used to live in Venezuela, as did many Canary Islanders who went there to work. Indeed, our local newspapers have a page for Venezuela news that they call “The Eighth Island” and we now have a Chanel 8 TV station.

Coincidentally (?) too, I was researching and writing about Bolivar just the other day. (His ancestors came from Tenerife.)

Thanks again.
